Scene 105 (HD/3:20 min.)

While attending a directing workshop in Rockport, Maine, I was provided with a feature script and asked to select a single scene to direct. When I discovered the story was set in 1976 Argentina, I decided I would do away with the idea of a set, and focus solely on the emotion and how to best block the scene using a single lighting setup. When I couldn't find a male actor in residence to play the role of a military captain, I decided to cast a female actor. This major change completely altered my approach to the material, which originally involved a very physical struggle, a slap, and some spitting.
